YOU are Britain!

Outside of history lessons, which become non-compulsory in education after the age of fourteen, there is very little information brought to young people about military operations past and present. In other words unless young people invest the time to find out more out of free will, not only are the details of the conflicts lost, but the essence of the personal sacrifice and selflessness that comes with serving in the forces is too.

After identifying this lack of accessibility to these values for young people, Bold and client Greenwich Council set out to bridge the gap. How? Through conventional Bold means… sharing amazing stories!

We worked with CARE to arrange workshops with 14-19 yr olds in the London borough of Greenwich, providing the opportunity to ask questions to British Army Veterans. The purpose of these sessions is to start up a cross-cultural and inter-generational exchange in the borough.  Young people get the opportunity to relate the values to their own experiences and the servicemen get the chance to share their legacy with a younger generation.

Greenwich borough has a particularly rich military history which has given rise to the area being very ethnically diverse. These workshops were designed to challenge our sense of common and shared identity, bring people of many different backgrounds together and to give people a sense of pride in their local community.
